The Dream
Beginning in 1999 as a website to show off my son's truck and the rides of many of his friends, customautos.net has endured through several attempts by hackers to destroy the site. However, my dream of owning my own business that provides quality auto parts, accessories and services to people like myself is still intact.
My objective is to open and operate a store that will offers quality accessories and specialized services at an affordable price. Yes, there are tire dealers who sell rims on almost every corner and you have the chain auto parts stores. But many of them do not have employees who can talk cars or can relate to the driver who has a vision of what he wants his car to look like. Internet sites offer a lot to look at but it's hard to determine the quality of an accessory looking at small computer screen.
After several attempts, I was able to secure some passes to the 2007 Las Vegas SEMA Show. Like a kid in the worlds largest toy store, I roamed the aisles gazing at all the goodies wishing I could hit the jackpot in Vegas. This trip reinforced my desire to pursue my dream.
I'm no Chip Foose nor do I have the skills to chop cut a rod. But I have an eye for the details that can help someone separate their stock ride to the one down the street without spending a fortune. Investing in some quality rims, a lowering kit, performance exhaust and few other accessories can turn a stock ride into head turner.
What's next? I'm looking at all my options and sizing up my competition in the Atlanta market. I have some unfinished business to take care of with my current employer but stay tuned. There's more to come.
